Lebanon recorded 3,544 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.
In the past 24 hours, 62 COVID-19-related fatalities and 1,685 recoveries were recorded, raising the total number of deaths to 5,536 and that of full recoveries to 335,333.
Since the pandemic reached Lebanon in February 2020, 426,977 infections have been confirmed in total, of which 86,108 are active cases.
Of the total cases, 2,630 are healthcare workers, of whom two tested positive between Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the same period, 21,267 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered in Lebanon, including 18,397 local PCR tests, 1,890 PCR tests administered at Beirut Airport, and 980 antigen tests.
As of the time of writing, 2,413 COVID-19-positive people are undergoing treatment in hospital beds across Lebanon, 956 are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 303 are on mechanical ventilation.
So far, 99,625 people in Lebanon have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 3,122 who received the shot in the past 24 hours.
Additionally, 27,872 people have received the second vaccine shot, including 5,705 who received it between Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Health Ministry registered 3,480 COVID-19 infections and 52 deaths.
