Lebanon recorded 3,480 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Tuesday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
In its latest report on the outbreak, the Ministry indicated that the total number of COVID-19 cases in Lebanon currently stands at 423,433, of which 84,311 are active cases.
The total infections include 2,628 healthcare workers, of whom one tested positive in the past 24 hours, according to the report.
In the same period, 52 COVID-19 patients passed away and 2,142 others underwent full recovery, raising the country’s total number of virus-related fatalities to 5,474 and that of recoveries to 333,648.
The Health Ministry’s data shows that between Monday and Tuesday, 24,235 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered. These included 20,645 local PCR tests, 2,340 PCR tests at Beirut Airport, and 1,250 antigen tests.
As of the time of writing, there are 2,422 COVID-19 patients occupying hospital beds in Lebanon, 958 who are considered in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 289 who are on mechanical ventilation.
Since Lebanon received its first vaccine shipment, 96,503 people have received their first vaccine dose, including 3,958 who did so in the past 24 hours.
On the other hand, 22,167 people in the country have received the second shot, including 4,478 who received it between Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, the Health Ministry recorded 1,505 COVID-19 infections and 42 fatalities.
