Lebanon recorded 2,631 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Saturday, according to the Health Ministry’s report on the epidemic.
The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 298,913, of which 117,410 are active, considering that 178,472 patients have undergone full recovery and 3,031 others have passed away due to the disease.
In the past 24 hours, Lebanon recorded 61 virus-related fatalities and 3,075 full recoveries.
In the same period, 14,108 PCR tests were administered, raising the total number of tests conducted in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,587,752.
As of Saturday, 2,402 patients are under treatment in hospital beds across the country, 955 are in critical condition in intensive care units, and 342 are on mechanical ventilation, according to the Health Ministry’s report.
As the healthcare system continues to struggle against the inflow of new cases, the Lebanese Red Cross is set to receive more than 1,000 donated oxygen concentrators.
“The coronavirus spread indicator has lowered due to the lockdown in the country, and given results,” caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan said in an interview with Al-Manar on Friday.
Hasan said the country will not reopen fully when the lockdown is over, but gradually, “because the situation is no longer tolerable.”
Citing the Lebanese Health Ministry’s recent statements about the health situation in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia has announced new measures for travelers from Lebanon to the Kingdom.
On Friday, the Ministry confirmed 3,125 COVID-19 cases and 59 fatalities.
