The Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has issued a circular that introduces new travel requirements for passengers arriving from Lebanon, due to health reasons.
“The transport of non-Saudi citizen travelers to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia coming from the Lebanese Republic is conditional on spending no less than 14 days outside the Lebanese Republic before entering the Kingdom,” the circular announced.
This is with the exception of Saudi citizens and people who are permitted to travel to the Kingdom from Lebanon for “humanitarian and urgent cases,” provided that they adhere to a 14-day period of quarantine upon their arrival, as per the circular.
The regular COVID-19 preventive health procedure of providing a negative PCR test result before departing to Saudi Arabia will continue to apply as usual.
Lebanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Fawzi Kabbara has confirmed to LBCI that the new measures are strictly health-related and are based on the Lebanese Health Ministry’s recent statements regarding the outbreak in Lebanon.
Earlier in January, Saudi Arabia issued a warning to its citizens about traveling to Lebanon, among other countries, citing safety reasons.
The COVID-19 outbreak has reached a dangerous level in Lebanon, with high numbers of infection cases and fatalities being recorded every day.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry confirmed 3,497 new infections and 68 virus-fatalities, raising the total number of infections in the country to 293,157.
