Lebanon recorded 3,125 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, according to the Health Ministry’s report on the epidemic.
This raises the country’s total cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 296,282. Of those, 175,397 patients have fully recovered and 2,680 others have passed away, putting active cases at 118,205.
2,900 recoveries and 59 fatalities were recorded among COVID-19 patients in the past 24 hours.
As of Friday, 2,400 patients are receiving treatment in hospital beds across the country, 951 cases are critical and in intensive care units, and 326 are on mechanical ventilation.
The positive cases recorded between Thursday and Friday emerged from 14,494 PCR tests conducted in the same period, including 12,828 local tests and 1,666 tests at the airport.
Earlier this week, Lebanon launched its electronic registration platform for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Hours after the Thursday launch, the platform recorded more than 70,000 registrations, according to local media.
This came one day after the country announced its vaccination plan, which will regulate the distribution and administration of the vaccines that Lebanon will begin to receive in mid-February.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry recorded 3,497 COVID-19 cases and 68 deaths.
