It’s not often that people from Beirut, let alone Kesserwan, or even Byblos, make the trip up north beyond Batroun to Tripoli, Lebanon’s second-largest city.
That is partly due to the distance. It can take between 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the northern capital from Beirut depending on the traffic.
Another reason is that some worry whether it is safe to visit Tripoli, which had long been misrepresented in Lebanon’s media as a place of terror when in fact it is the city of harmony.
There are many aspects to Tripoli. There is the old and authentic side of Tripoli and there is the new part of the city, which was only developed in the last 30-40 years.
