. 975,000 people traveled to and from Beirut Airport! The Director General of Civil Aviation Mohammad Chehab said that this is a healthy number which indicates that people trust Lebanon more and more. However, this number kept growing. The airport has seen an increase of 17% in the number of passengers in August 2017 compared to the same month last year. During the first eight months of 2017, 5,538,185 people traveled to and from Beirut Airport compared to 5,081,386 passengers last year. For this reason, the Lebanese government is seeking to expand the airport which currently can accommodate 5 million people annually. This increase in the number of passengers led to a massive traffic in the airport. Since August is the final month of summer vacations, expats and tourists were heading back to their countries.
