Lebanon recorded 2,723 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Tuesday, the Health Ministry confirmed in its daily report.
Of the total 359,337 infections registered since the beginning of the pandemic, 79,742 are active cases, as 275,149 patients have recovered from the disease and 4,446 have passed away so far.
The positive cases include 2,520 medical workers, of whom 9 tested positive in the past 24 hours.
In the same period, 2,949 people underwent full recovery from COVID-19 and 59 others passed away.
Between Monday and Tuesday, 21,458 tests were administered across Lebanon, including 19,142 local PCR tests and 1,598 others at Beirut Airport, in addition to 718 antigen tests, raising the total number of tests conducted so far to 2,932,780.
As of the time of writing, 2,147 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in hospital beds, 918 are critical cases in intensive care units, and 298 are on mechanical ventilation.
Lebanon entered the second stage of its reopening plan on Monday as its daily cases have been on a steady decline over the past few days, reaching the relatively low number of 1,541 on Monday for the first time in weeks.
Meanwhile, hospitals across the country are continuing to administer vaccines to people registered on the dedicated vaccination platform and who fall under the categories given priority by the national vaccination plan.
On that note, following reports that some hospitals have been violating the state-set vaccination program, AUBMC has denied doing so.
