Lebanon recorded 2,255 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, the Health Ministry revealed in its daily report.
51 related fatalities and 4,281 full recoveries were also recorded on Friday, raising the total numbers of deaths and recoveries so far to 4,257 and 260,390 respectively.
As for the total number of confirmed infections, it stands at 351,065 at the time of writing, only 86,418 of which are active cases. Furthermore, 2,502 of the total cases are medical workers, of which 6 were confirmed in the past 24 hours.
The new cases registered between Thursday and Friday emerged from 14,511 PCR tests conducted in the same period, of which 12,396 were administered locally and 2,115 others were administered at the airport.
As of Friday, 2,193 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in hospital beds across Lebanon, 922 are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 292 are on mechanical ventilation, according to the report.
As more hospitals and medical centers across Lebanon initiate vaccination, caretaker Youth and Sports Minister Vartine Ohanian launched on Friday, in coordination with the Health Ministry, a campaign to encourage citizens to vaccinate against COVID-19.
The awareness campaign also serves to help guide people who need help on how to register to receive the vaccine via the dedicated platform.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry recorded 2,730 COVID-19 cases and 54 fatalities.
