Your Role
961 is looking for a motivated and experienced Staff Writer to join our team. You’ll play a pivotal role in our daily operations and our Lebanon coverage by breaking exclusive stories relevant to readers across Lebanon and the diaspora. You can also contribute if you can’t commit to a full-time role.
You must be passionate about storytelling and love Lebanon. Despite its issues, you believe it’s the best place on earth – and can convince others of that too.

Your Outcomes
- Researching and writing original, timely, and shareable content that resonates with our Gen-Z and Millennial audiences
- Option to publish either 5-7 stories/day in English or 4-5 with their AR/FR translations.
- Ensuring all information is accurate
- Maintain high-quality work while meeting ambitious goals
- Breaking exclusive stories
Your Qualifications
- Fluent in English and Arabic. French as well is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of professional writing experience at a digital publisher creating engaging and shareable content.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred but not required
- Deep knowledge of what is happening and trending in Lebanon
- An obsession with content research, tight deadlines, and team brainstorming
- The ability to spot catchy, unique angles and execute them quickly
- A passion for a mix of research, investigative work, enterprise stories, and viral topics
- Experience creating content for social platforms including TikTok and Instagram is a plus
- Availability to work a flexible full-time schedule with occasional evening and weekend work.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices
- Creative (Formulate engaging headlines, creating eye-catching featured images).
