President Aoun Says The Current Government Is Not Qualified To Take Over His Powers
The Lebanese President, Michel Aoun , confirmed that he has started sending his personal items, successively, to his house in Rabieh, to which he will move at twelve midnight on October 31, "not a minute less or a minute more."
As for whether he could hand over his powers to the caretaker government, he pointed out in an interview with Al-Joumhouria newspaper, “Such a government is not qualified to hand over my powers to after the end of my term, and I consider that it does not have the national legitimacy for solutions.”
President Aoun expressed his skepticism about the reasons for not forming a government so far, revealing that “he has a feeling that the obstruction is deliberate so that Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati and his successors put their hands on the country through a caretaker government, which does not meet the conditions for replacing a president.”
"If such a repulsive situation arises, I will not bow to it and will confront it," the president went on to say.
He noted, "My house in Rabieh will be open to everyone, and whoever thinks that I will finish after leaving Baabda Palace, I will disappoint them as they were disappointed when I left Baabda in 1990 and they thought at the time that they got rid of me."
