Lebanon Will Start Producing The Russian Vaccine Locally
On Monday, caretaker Industry Minister Imad Hoballah announced that next week a contract will be signed to allow the production of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V in Lebanon, NNA reported.
Sputnik V, which is not yet officially approved by the World Health Organization (WHO), has been distributed in Lebanon through private sector companies and some political parties in the past two months.
Employees at the Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport and Middle East Airlines (MEA) were among the first in Lebanon to receive the Russian jab.
Back in February, Hoballah announced that a factory in Lebanon expressed its readiness to start manufacturing COVID-19 vaccines locally and that set out to launch the necessary negotiations to begin production.
