The Ministry of Culture illuminated on Wednesday the National Museum of Beirut with the colors of the Lebanese flag in a stand of national solidarity with the Lebanese people in quarantine across the country.
The enforced lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak hasn’t been easy on the people but, with the cases growing exponentially, adhering to complete domestic quarantine has been a must.
Illuminating the National Museum is a gesture of solidarity by the ministry of culture to encourage the people to stay put until this is over.
The National Museum of Beirut is one of the landmarks of Lebanon, and the country’s principal museum of archaeology.
It hosts an amazing collection of treasures, estimated at 100,000 valuable objects. Most are antiquities and medieval finds from excavations undertaken by Lebanon’s Directorate General of Antiquities.
Among these 100,000 objects, there are about 1300 artifacts, ranging in date from prehistoric times to the medieval Mamluk period.
A night earlier, on Wednesday, The Lady of Lebanon, one of the most famous landmarks in the country, was also illuminated with the colors of the Lebanese flag in solidarity with the nation against the coronavirus.
