Former President Michel Aoun reportedly threatened to “tear up” the Mar Mikhail Agreement with Hezbollah.
According to the Nidaa al-Watan, Michel Aoun made these remarks during a meeting with FPM youths, belonging to the party he founded, Free Patriotic Movement.
Quoting someone in attendance of the meeting, he said if “Hezbollah continues to violate the constitution and isolate a main component, I will personally and publicly tear up the Mar Mikhail Agreement and throw it in the trash bin.”
This comes in light of Hezbollah‘s decision to take part in a caretaker cabinet session despite there being no president. A move that the FPM considers an attack on the constitution and the Christian president’s power
Michel Aoun’s media office later denied the claims.
