The world rushed to Lebanon’s aid after the explosion at the Port of Beirut. People and celebrities from all countries are donating to charities and the Lebanese Red Cross, to help the high number of affected people.

Among these celebrities is Mia Khalifa.

Despite only working three months as an adult-film actor in 2014, she quickly rose to top ranks on the biggest adult websites – even years later. A quarter of the searches for her on the adult website, Pornhub, were in fact from Lebanon – where she received a lot of criticism from. Mia quit the industry following a change of heart citing unwanted attention and death threats. She claims her residuals are being withheld and last month 1.5 million people signed a petition campaigning for her videos to be removed from the internet. As a result, she received a legal warning from the company that owns and sells her content.

Mia went on to working as a paralegal and bookkeeper. Transitioning to social media personality, webcam model, and sports commentator. She’s been working to remove the preface of “pornstar” associated to her.

She is mobilizing her big social media following to raise awareness and funds for Lebanon and was even auctioning her eyeglasses – which were notable from her adult videos, to raise funds for the Lebanese Red Cross.

Mia’s auction of her glasses on eBay to raise money for the Lebanese Red Cross has already reached $100,000.

But Mia is doing so much more than donating to help her country and the Lebanese people.

She is raising the Lebanese people’s voices to the international community. More so, she is raising awareness regarding the corruption in the country and urging people not to donate one penny to the Lebanese government.

Mia cried on Instagram when the explosion happened in Beirut. She called on people to help Lebanon because the government will not protect the people.

The 27-year-old said: “Share, donate or do what you can because the Lebanese government failed (the people) too. It is not just the United States. Man, I have never understood the hatred of the police as I do now.“

Many agree that Mia is supporting the people more than their own government.

She has been empowering the Lebanese, raising awareness, educating people abroad on the real situation in the country, helping in any way she can, and all of this effort is not going unnoticed.

“SHARE THIS, DON’T LET THE WORLD TURN A BLIND EYE ON LEBANON…Donate DIRECTLY to the people, or the Lebanese Red Cross,” she wrote.

She’s even been taking on the President of Lebanon, Aoun, head on – who eventually blocked her on Instagram and disabled comments on all posts.

This is not the only time that Mia Khalifa spoke about her homeland with love, not the first time that she has been a fierce activist for Lebanon against corruption.

On independence day 2017, Mia tweeted: “Happy Independence Day to the country I love, but doesn’t really love me back.” She has always shown her pride in her Lebanese heritage.

In fact, Mia has been supporting the Lebanese people’s revolution against the government since day one, she also called on other people, Lebanese or not, to show the same level of support to Lebanon.

She shared videos of the protests, with captions that didn’t only show pride, but that also educated her thousands of international fans on the reality of the situation.

“This is my country, and I have tears in my eyes watching the way they come together…” she said.

Earlier in the revolution, she posted to her followers:

“This is day 4 of protests country-wide and it’s not stopping until the revolution causes real change in the government and the way the citizens are treated… I’m proud of the change that the youth is DEMANDING for their future.”
