President Michel Aoun received a message on Friday, from the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in which Egypt affirmed its keenness on Lebanon’s stability and prosperity.

“We are ready to make every effort that can contribute to the prosperity of the brotherly Lebanese people and restore them to their health,” the letter wrote, according to the Lebanese Presidency’s tweet.

In the letter, Al-Sisi expressed that he trusts that “Lebanon, which is in the hearts of all Arabs, has the will to get out of the crisis and distance itself from the regional conflicts in order to avoid the negative impact they will have on it,” reported Al Joumhouria.

“We hope that the negotiations that Lebanon is conducting with financial institutions will result in success that reduces the damages to the Lebanese economy,” Al-Sisi also stated.

Egypt itself has had success receiving billions of dollars in support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which Lebanon is now failing to do.

IMF’s managing director Kristalina Georgieva has said that discussions with Lebanon have been difficult. Two IMF negotiators in Lebanon have quit after losing hope in the case.

Currently, Lebanon’s negotiations with the IMF are on hold and the IMF has accused the Lebanese government of lacking seriousness.

On the other hand, the IMF has praised Egypt for its proactive approach to limit the pandemic’s fallout, according to the IMF’s recent press release.

Egypt’s letter of support follows the statements of similar sentiments given to Lebanon this week by Italy, France, and America.

They have all urged Lebanon to make needed reforms in order to receive international financial support and have expressed their desire to help Lebanon maintain its stability and security.
