Oscar Niemeyer‘s magnificent abandoned site in Tripoli, Lebanon served as the backdrop for acclaimed Lebanese couturier Georges Hobeika’s fall/winter 2020-21 collection “Madam President.”
Due to the pandemic, the world-famous designer live-streamed his show on Instagram and on the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode website for Paris’s Haute Couture Digital Fashion Week.
The fashion show was unique, void of the physical presence of any audience, and was shown right from Rachid Karami International Fair in Tripoli to the world of fashion.
According to the luxury lifestyle magazine AE World, Hobeika sourced from Lebanon all of his crew, models, production team, and so on.
Among them, Bassam Fattouh for makeup, the owner of Pace e Luce Wassim Morkos for hairstyling, and photographer Patrick Sawaya as executive producer.
Other Lebanese designers presenting their collections in Paris’s digital fashion week are Rabih Kayrouz and Elie Saab.
Tripoli was also in the spotlight in Vogue Arabia’s June issue, which was dedicated to Lebanon. The magazine highlighted the historic Tripoli’s streets and old charm through photoshoots in the city.
