In a press conference held in the Grand Serail on the evening of May 7th, the Minister of Education Dr. Tarek Majzoub announced that this year’s brevet official exams are canceled due to the situation.
He said, “Today there were deliberations related to completing the academic year and conducting official exams, all in light of general mobilization,” reported the NNA.
According to Majzoub, the Cabinet reviewed two points: (1) completing the school year, and (2) conducting the official exams.
The Cabinet approved of the cancellation of the official exams for technical schools and Brevet (grade 9).
More details will be announced in a conference at the Ministry of Education – UNESCO at 10:30 AM on May 8, 2020.
Details will also include the procedures and measures to be taken during testing.
The fate for senior students and their official baccalaureate exams has not been disclosed.
As a result of the pandemic, schools and educational programs were forced to shut down. Some have been able to continue through e-learning, granted it does not have the same impact of being in the classroom.
