This video documents birds living their best life in Beirut, Lebanon, and enjoying nature in other areas while the Lebanese are confined to their homes.
As the Lebanese environmentalist who appears in the video puts it: “You can tell that nature is enjoying itself without us.”
Lebanon is one of the world’s most important flyways for migratory birds but this year, however, this visit was more prominent.
According to Reuters, SPNL (Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon) has documented nests for species that had not been previously spotted in Beirut, its suburbs, and other usually populated areas in Lebanon. This is also true in the Bekaa.
It seems like what is bad for humans is good for nature. Animals, especially cats and birds, are taking advantage of the situation in Lebanon.
