Kim and three of her friends attended the wedding of her 24-year-old Ethiopian house helper. The bride and groom wore stunning “Kabas”, a traditional and beautifully embroidered Ethiopian robe. After the ceremony, the wedding party headed to Casino Monte Carlo for an unforgettable celebration.
Guests wore traditional Ethiopian garments as well, which enhanced the cultural richness of the event. In a similar embrace of tradition, the food served was a delightful spread of Ethiopian dishes, reflecting the couple’s desire to honor their heritage.
The guests participated in joyful dances full of rhythmic beats and energetic movement, drawing parallels to the well-known Lebanese Dabke. Kim stated that “the ambiance was very similar to that of a Lebanese wedding,” which is more than enough proof that different cultures can throw distinct celebrations while still echoing a similar atmosphere.
