OMT Lebanon donated 150 million LBP (about 99,140$ at the official exchange rate) to Rafik Hariri University Hospital (RHUH) in order to enhance the capacity of the medical, nursing, and volunteer staff amid a coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

OMT is a recognized Financial Services company known to have the largest network of agents in Lebanon.

According to NNA, OMT Chairman Toufic Moawad sent out a greeting of appreciation for all staff members of the RHUH. The donation is in his name and on behalf of the “OMT Lebanon family.”

The OMT Lebanon family, according to him, includes the company’s team and its network of agents consisting of more than 1,200 agent centers in Lebanon.

“This step is a responsibility we all are affiliated with as a private sector towards our families, our community, and our country,” he explained.

He also called for “support of the health system and the medical staff, so that we can face hand in hand this entitlement, which might be the most dangerous that our country, Lebanon, might have faced.”

This initiative by OMT Lebanon is among some emerging actions taken to financially help the health institutions that have been fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the frontline.

The Lebanese hunting and shooting company Josons, based in Ghadir, has also donated 200 million LBP to the RHUH as well as 15,000 dollars to the Lebanese Red Cross as an appreciation of the size of their sacrifices in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The company added that its donation to the RHUH comes in appreciation of the sacrifices made by the medical team and volunteers and the extent of their dedication to facing the virus despite its danger.

As for the LRC’s donation, Josons explained: “Our step towards the Lebanese Red Cross came as an expression of respect and appreciation for this institution, and a trust in its ability and national responsibility, and the dedication of its workers and in serving the people in Lebanon.”

The Municipality of Hadath has also donated 250 million LBP to the Lebanese Red Cross to assist in the LRC’s coronavirus (COVID-19) mission, encouraging many to do the same.
