After two years of debate over the repair of this lovely public garden, the Jesuits Garden is ready to welcome you back!

The accomplishment of this rehabilitation project, sponsored by Beit El Baraka, a non-profit organization, marks a significant step toward creating new green spaces in Beirut, which is plagued by urbanization.

Beit El Baraka announced the reopening of the public garden in an Instagram post, stating in their caption: “Every public garden in Beirut is subject to dilemma, and it has been almost impossible for anyone from the private or public sector to undergo rehabilitation works without being stopped by various parties.”

The project began over two years ago, and the garden was closed to the public while the organization renovated it.

Despite criticism from inhabitants of the Geitawi neighborhood, who believed that the true objective behind this project was to establish this site for Syrian families rather than local ones, Beit El Baraka never stopped trying to create a green space for people to rest in.

Though public areas are open to everybody, Beit El Baraka is trying to create more accessible green spaces that will welcome people from many communities who want to have fun and breathe fresh air in the city.

Hopefully, additional green spaces will be maintained so that everyone can relax.
