Wafiq Safa, the head of Hezbollah’s coordination and Liaison Committee, has returned to Beirut from the UAE following negotiations for the release of detained individuals.

His visit was part of the ongoing efforts to address the case of 12 Lebanese detainees in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Hezbollah’s media relations, “Safa met with officials involved in the matter during his trip. They expressed hope that a satisfactory resolution would be reached.

As a result, the UAE is expected to issue a governmental decree on Ramadan 2024, granting a general amnesty to the Lebanese detainees.

The amnesty is anticipated to be implemented within two days, allowing the released detainees to return to Beirut in time for Eid al-Fitr.

UAE, along with other Gulf countries, considers Hezbollah a “terrorist organization”.

Consequently, it has detained and deported numerous Lebanese citizens over the years due to alleged ties to the group.
