Rafik Hariri University Hospital just confirmed 7 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in its daily coronavirus report. This brings the total number of cases in Lebanon to 73, while that of coronavirus-related deaths remains 3.
Hariri Hospital said that, during the past 24 hours, 158 patients were received by its specialized COVID-19 emergency department. 17 of them were isolated by the hospital’s medical team while the rest were instructed to adhere to self-quarantine at home.
Furthermore, the hospital conducted 206 laboratory analyses, out of which 7 turned out to be COVID-19-positive. The new cases were quarantined accordingly.
RHUH’s report also shows that 19 patients were released from quarantine after testing negative for the virus. This leaves 14 individuals quarantined in the hospital’s isolation unit as of Thursday, March 12th.
Out of the total 73 coronavirus cases, only 2 are considered in critical condition and all are receiving the necessary treatment.
The report said that 38 cases out of the 73 are present in the RHUH while the rest are distributed among other university hospitals in Lebanon.
The total of deaths caused by the coronavirus remains 3 in Lebanon as of the same date.
Notably, the hospital mentioned that “this report includes the number of examinations that were performed only in [Rafik Hariri Hospital’s] laboratories; not other laboratories.”
Moreover, “it shows in numbers the cases in isolation and quarantine areas inside the hospital, provided that the Ministry [of Public Health] is in charge of providing the number of infections in all Lebanese areas.”
Earlier on Thursday, the Ministry of Public Health issued its own daily report, confirming the third death and the total number of infections as 66.
Due to the increasing threat that the coronavirus poses on Lebanon’s public health, 11 government hospitals across the country have been prepared to treat coronavirus patients.
