Hezbollah is currently facing financial problems due to the situation in Iran, according to Lebanese and Iranian media.
Early in the economic crisis in Lebanon, Iranian-backed Hezbollah gave out cards called “Sajjad” to the families of its members.
This card allowed them to buy food and groceries with a 60% discount at shops that sell Iranian products.
According to Janoubia, an independent Lebanese outlet covering the South of Lebanon – where Hezbollah is prevalent, those shopping with this card are facing problems.
According to the report, the Iranian regime can’t send food items such as cooking oil and tea to Lebanon anymore.
They cited the Iranian revolution, the problems the Iranian economy is facing, and the sharp decline of the Iranian rial against the US Dollar as reasons.
Hezbollah began replacing Iranian goods with Lebanese, Turkish, and Indian items for Sajjad card users.
Speaking to Iran International, Lebanese political activist Makram Rabah, emphasized that the effects of the uprising by Iranian people against the regime can now be seen in Lebanon.
He went on to explain that the dire situation of the Iranian regime, which is the biggest financial and political supporter of Hezbollah, will make it lose its ability to stand on its own feet.
Other media are reporting that Iranian-affiliated Palestinian groups are also facing financial issues because of Iran’s situation.
