The acclaimed Lebanese filmmaker Nadine Labaki received the prestigious FIAPF Award for Outstanding Contribution to Asia Pacific Cinema at the 15th edition of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) Ceremony on the Gold Coast in Australia.
The FIAPF Award celebrates filmmakers from the region whose works contribute to developing the Asia Pacific film industry.
Being the winner of major awards, the Oscar-nominated Lebanese actress, director, and activist Nadine Labaki has many acclaimed films in her portfolio, including Caramel; Where Do We Go Now?, which won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival; and others.
In 2018, Labaki was selected at the Cannes Film Festival with her film Capernaum, the first Lebanese film to be nominated for a Golden Globe. The film was also ranked #71 in the Guardian’s list of the 100 Best Films of the 21st Century.
Nadine Labaki is currently starring in the award-winning Costa Brava, Lebanon by Mounia Akl, which is streaming on Netflix worldwide.
