The Minister of Public Works in the caretaker government, Ali Hamiyeh, claimed that the main reason for the flooding following heavy rain is that the plastic bags blocked the waterways.
In an interview with Voice of the People, he said, “Our teams have turned into waste removal teams, and the ministry and its teams cannot play the role of others.”
In the same context, he added: “We, as the Ministry of Works, cannot turn to a waste removal company while the waste removal companies receive their money.”
He stressed that the money in the Ministry of Works is for public safety, considering that today the responsibility lies with the Ministries of Energy and Interior, in addition to municipalities and waste removal companies.
