    30+ Photos Of Hammana, One Of Lebanon’s Most Beautiful Villages

    Lebanon boasts lively villages within its borders, making the country an interesting destination for local tourism. One of these villages is Hammana, located around 26 km East of Beirut.

    The village, which name derives from Hammon, the Phoenician sun god, is perched in beauty at an altitude of 1200m above sea level and connects to the villages of Falougha, Khraybe, Bmariam, Sawfar, and Mdeirej.

    It is nestled in a green and fertile valley surrounded by scenic mountains. It boasts its “red gold” juicy and exquisite cherries which Hammana is famous for.

    Hammana is also known for its stunning traditional houses, historical and cultural monuments, and lovely climate during summer, which has made it among the favorite destination of the Lebanese during the warm season.

    The village is known for its religious heritage, as it hosts the monastery of the Good Shepherd, which is listed as a historical monument by the Directorate General of Antiquities, as well as Mar Romanos Church, which was built in the 1730s.

    Hammana is also home to the former residence of poet Alphonse de Lamartine’s 14th-century Mezher palace. The same poet described the village’s valley as being “the work of God.”

    Nature lovers can also have the time of their lives, as the village has a gorgeous valley, Lamartine valley, which is featured by tall pine trees and orchards.

    Surrounded by mountains, Hammana is home to waterfalls and a river, where people enjoy outdoor activities, such as canyoning and abseiling.

    Hammana is a lively village hosting festivals, sports activities, and a rich cultural heritage. There are various hotels in the village welcoming people for a staycation or the whole summer.

    Hikers can also have the best time in Hammana’s Valley or on the trails in the mountains.

    The village hosts its “Hammana cherry festival,” which is usually held in June. It is also home to Nagib Abu Haidar Public Library, Hammana Artist House, and restaurants near the waterfall, where you will get to enjoy food in nature.

    You can also immerse in nature, and spend a few days discovering the village while enjoying a nice camping experience surrounded by peacefulness.
