Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz commented on Hezbollah‘s threats to attack Israeli gas platforms, and the developments of the “nuclear agreement with Tehran” file, during a radio interview, Monday, according to Al-Hurra correspondent in Jerusalem.
Gantz said that “there will be two platforms, one on our side and the other on their side,” adding: “I hope that we will not have to enter a war before that because it will be a tragedy for the Lebanese state and its citizens.”
Hezbollah’s chief Hassan Nasrallah had threatened to “cut off the hand” of Israel if it spread to Lebanon’s oil and gas, stressing the anticipation of the Israeli response regarding the demarcation of the maritime borders between the two countries.
The Israeli Defense Minister expressed his “disturbance” over the developments in the Iranian file and the possibility of reaching an agreement between Western powers and Tehran.
He added, “There are many loopholes in the file, whether in the field of enrichment or weapons production and in the field of transportation or in the huge amount of resources that will enter Iran,” adding, “For this reason, we are against the agreement.”
The parties concerned with the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, especially Brussels and Washington, are studying Iran’s response to a European Union proposal aimed at achieving an understanding in the talks to revive the 2015 agreement, according to Agence France-Presse.
