The owner of the renowned Lebanese restaurant Em Sherif, Mireille Hayek, was granted the Lebanese Order of Merit, Silver grade.
Mireille Hayek and the general manager of the chain, Mr. Danny Shakour, also met with the Lebanese president, Michel Aoun, who highlighted the growing spread of the restaurant around 14 Arab and international countries.
Hayek was praised for contributing to bringing the Lebanese culinary culture to the forefront in many countries.
Em Sherif was ranked this year as one of the best restaurants in the 50 Best Restaurants of the MENA, along with 4 other Lebanese restaurants.
President Aoun hoped that this honor would be a catalyst for more success, and an invitation to the Lebanese to transfer their creativity abroad “so that the name of Lebanon would remain synonymous with success and progress.
The Lebanese Order of Merit has been awarding exceptional individuals since its institution in January 1922.
The Order comes in six classes: Extraordinary Grade for Heads of State, Grand Cordon Grade for Prime Ministers and other dignitaries, and for services to Lebanon and acts of courage with Golden (First Grade), Silver with Palms (second grade), Silver (Third Grade), and Bronze (Fourth Grade).
