Several movies have been banned in Lebanon this year, and not all for the same reason. The banning of movies seems to be increasing recently, with a focus by the authorities on the silver screens.
Minions: The Rise Of Gru
Minion: The Rise Of Gru was banned reportedly due to a same-sex kiss scene and a depiction of an angry nun.
Lightyear Animation film
Lightyear animation film was banned due to a same-sex kiss scene. According to AFP, the decision to ban it came when Disney refused to make the requested censorship cuts.
Death On The Nile
Death On The Nile was banned in Lebanon because it is starring the Israeli Actor Gal Gadot.
Thor: Love And Thunder
Thor: Love And Thunder movie was banned from showing for the past few weeks now reportedly because of a homosexuality/nudity scene, as well as the presence of the Israeli actor Natalie Portman. It could be returning to cinemas in the upcoming weeks.
It is worth noting that these movies were mainly banned in Lebanon and some in the MENA region.
