On Tuesday, Reuters reported that Lebanese State Prosecutor Judge Ghassan Oueidat concluded the investigation on the Syrian ship accused of carrying stolen goods.

The judge decided that there was no criminal offense in the files and allowed “Laodicea” to sail from the Tripoli port.

However, the ship remains unable to sail as another judge in Tripoli, Northern Lebanon, ordered its seizure on Monday.

Reuters stated that the seizure is valid for only 72 hours.

Ukraine accused that the flour and barley on the ship were stolen from its country while Russia denied it.

Ukraine, the U.S., and other Western countries warned Lebanon against purchasing any goods from that shipment as it could damage Lebanese-Ukrainian ties, result in sanctions, and hamper any deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

While Syria warned as well that not lifting the seizure would leave negative repercussions on the relations between Lebanon and Syria.

The Syrian ship was previously sanctioned by the United States back in 2015.
