After being postponed for two years, the official Brevet exams were finally held again in June 2022. This year, approximately 62,000 students sat for the exams over the course of two days.
The official exams were previously canceled due to the ongoing pandemic and were even rumored to be canceled this year because of the economic crisis.
Because of the unprecedented challenges, Grade 9 students were tested in 5 subjects instead of 9. Moreover, the Ministry Of Education made sure to organize the examination centers near where students live to reduce the impact of inflated transportation costs.
The results were released on July 15th, at around midnight. Students were able to view their results via the online platform that the Ministry created.
The success rate was 79%, which is an increase of 5% since 2019, with the Mount Lebanon Governorate scoring the highest success rate (85.07%) among other regions.
Amira Hussein Zureik, a student from Adchit a village in the South of Lebanon, scored the highest grade among all other Brevet students in the country.
She impressively scored 19.44/20, which is equivalent to 175/180, and got the full grade on her Maths, Chemistry, and History exams.
