Judge Ghada Aoun Ordered The Freezing Of Riad Salameh’s Assets

Mount Lebanon General Prosecutor Ghada Aoun issued an order to freeze some assets of Lebanon’s Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh, according to NNA.

The targetted assets are namely his properties and cars.

The move comes in response to a legal complaint from the “People Want to Reform the System” group, represented by its lawyers Haitham Ezzo and Pierre Gemayel.

Last week, Judge Aoun had issued a travel ban against Salameh forbidding him to travel by land, sea, and air after the same group filed a complaint against him for embezzlement and money laundering.

Salameh has other warrants against him by countries investigating him, namely Lichtenstein, France, Luxemburg, and Switzerland.

The ongoing legal confrontation between Judge Aoun and Riad Salameh is not new. Last year, she issued a warrant against him in the case of financial transfers and allegations of fraud, misuse of public funds, and illegal enrichment.

On the ground, people have been protesting against Salameh, the Central Bank, and the banks for their money and their rights to access their savings in banks.
