The United States called on the Arab Gulf states to revive relations with Lebanon, saying that “the faltering country needs international support.”

This request came following the backdrop of statements by the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, about the war on Yemen.

Ned Price, the US State Department Spokesman, said in a press conference: “We call for leaving diplomatic channels open with Lebanon; an effective dialogue with Beirut must begin.”

This statement followed the meeting between the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, and Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland.

Blinken affirmed that the US will help Lebanon get out of the current economic crisis.

The statement comes in response to the Lebanon-Gulf crisis, whereby some Arab Gulf states took severe measures against Lebanon, expelling Lebanese ambassadors, and recalling their ambassadors from Lebanon.

In addition, Saudi Arabia banned imports from Lebanon and halted DHL and FedEx services between both countries.
