The European Union Delegation in Lebanon in collaboration with Al Madina Theatre made Lebanon’s European Theatre Festival 2019 a reality. This second festival edition offers 16 days of theater from Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain, Romania, and Lebanon.

The festival started on September 27 and goes on until October 12, 2019. Plays, workshops, panels, and exhibitions are part of this year’s rich festival program. The plays this year touch on many global issues including social diversity, identity, and migration.

Dramaturgy, scenography, narrative building, paper puppet making, and creative processes’ workshops are taking place throughout the city’s cultural venues. You also have the chance to develop your drama skills, but hurry up because the number of seats is limited!

Note that the festival, funded by the European Union, is the only European theatre festival in the Middle East and the Arab world. It fosters cultural exchange between Lebanon and the European Union and is a channel promoting culture and human rights, especially freedom of expression.

It’s all about intercultural exchanges between Europe and Lebanon and creating an opportunity for exchange between theatre professionals.

Another good news: Entrance is affordable to all. Tickets prices range from 5000 L.B.P for students and theatre professionals, 15,000 L.B.P if regular, and up to 25,000 L.B.P for the first four front central rows. All tickets can be purchased at Librairie Antoine or Al Madina theatre.

Finally, we cannot but give credit to Al Madina Theater for hosting this cultural event and many others like it. Founded by Mrs. Nidal Al Achkar in 1994, Al Madina Theater is not just a theater but an exhibition and workshop space for all types of cultural activities, always with a vision to bring together artists, writers, and intellectuals to enable them to present their work.
