Families of victims of the Beirut Port Explosion announced that they will perform a sit-in in Beirut starting Wednesday night.
They said in a joint statement on Wednesday evening that they would head to the Verdun Roundabout for the sit-in at 10 PM and stay there until the morning of the next day, “for the blood of our martyrs and victims.”
They accompanied the announcement with a repeated call for people to join them in protesting on Thursday against the planned Parliament session that aims to discuss the request for documents and evidence from judicial investigator Judge Tarek Bitar.
“Since the perpetrators of Parliament are insisting on holding the Session of Shame tomorrow, which is confirmed by the security measures that we’ve observed in the vicinity of the UNESCO Palace, we will go tomorrow at 9 AM to surround all the entrances and exits of the aforementioned place,” they said.
“We appeal to all free people to participate and support with full force so that the scene would be similar to the day of August 4th.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the families of Beirut blast victims urged people to help prevent the upcoming session from being held, also inviting MPs who oppose the so-called “Petition of Shame” to boycott the session.
