Once again, the Lebanese people stand together in solidarity to express their grief and demand justice.
From large marches in Beirut and demonstrations around the world to gatherings of prayers, memorial events, and small initiatives, the Lebanese are duly dedicating this August 4th to the Beirut Blast Victims.
The 234+ souls are still awaiting justice for the horrible crime committed against them a year ago, and the nation intends to mark the first anniversary of the Beirut Port Explosion in ways that remind all that their memories live.
Among these memorial initiatives, an evening of musical tribute organized by Together LiBeirut will gather people today, August 3rd, on the St Nicholas stairs in Gemmayzeh at 8:30 PM Beirut time.
The public is invited to bring along a candle or a flower in memory of the victims and adhere to COVID-19 precautions during the gathering.
The event will be streamed live on the Facebook and Instagram pages of Together LiBeirut for those who cannot physically attend, including the diaspora and friends of Lebanon abroad.
The musical tribute will be directed by the pianist Lucas Sakr, accompanied by local musicians like violinist Mario Rahi, bassist Zaher Sebali, percussionist Jad Sakr, and soloists Marianne Alwan, Suzanna Assaf, and Georges Noun.
A choir including Elie Asmar, Camilio Kahali, Marc Nasr, and Joseph Gerge will also perform.
One year since the Beirut Explosion quaked the Lebanese capital and shattered hundreds of families, and the nation is still awaiting justice.
The Beirut Blast Victims have not been forgotten. They live in the hearts of the Lebanese nation.
