Industrialists in eastern Lebanon have launched an initiative that supports the Lebanese Army by helping it maintain its vehicles.
Nicolas Abou Faisal, head of the Association of Industrialists in Beqaa, announced the move on Wednesday.
He said the initiative relies on collecting contributions from industrialists in the Beqaa region to help maintain Lebanese Army vehicles.
The association received the required approval prior to starting the initiative. Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Gen. Joseph Aoun had granted his approval and welcomed the move, Abou Faisal said in a statement.

Because of the economic crisis in Lebanon, the Lebanese military has been struggling to cover various operational costs, to the point that Gen. Aoun has warned of the military institution’s inevitable collapse if its financial situation does not improve.
In an attempt to boost its finances, the army recently launched a touristic program that offers civilians flights over Lebanon aboard its helicopters.
Its biggest move in this regard, however, was calling for international support, a request that resulted in an international support conference being held for the Lebanese Army in June.
