In light of the recent Delta variant outbreak, Lebanon is implementing new procedures for arriving passengers to stem the spread of the virus.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation – Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued a circular on July 8th detailing new procedures for arriving passengers to stem the spread of the virus.
Starting July 12th, 2021, passengers aged 12 and above must present a negative PCR test result received at least 96 hours before arriving at the Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. Without showing the results, travelers will not be able to board their flights.
Similarly, people coming from the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, India, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zambia, Libera, Kenya, Gambia, and Sierra Leone must present valid hotel bookings for 4 days and 3 nights in order to fly.
They must book at their own expense at the hotels allocated by the government. Note that this does not apply to travelers transiting in the mentioned countries.
All passengers, except those under 12 and UNIFIL personnel, must perform a PCR test upon arrival. The test costs $50 to be paid at each passenger’s expense.
Travelers from the countries listed above will be transported to their hotels where they will undergo another PCR test at their own expense, according to the circular.
Excluded from hotel quarantine are national/foreign diplomats and their families, given they quarantine for 4 days in their own homes; passengers under 18; and passengers who have received at least one dose of any COVID-19 vaccine a minimum of 2 weeks before their departure.
Furthermore, travelers who have been fully vaccinated within a minimum of 2 weeks before departure, and/or who have recovered from COVID-19 within 90 days before their travel date, in addition to passengers who traveled out of Lebanon and back within the same week, don’t need to present PCR test results before flying but will perform one upon arrival.
