A plane landed in the Lebanese capital on Thursday, carrying aid from Qatar to the Lebanese Army.
The Qatari Air Force plane arrived at Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport with 70 tonnes of foodstuffs aimed at supporting the Lebanese Army through the prevailing crisis in Lebanon.
A diplomatic delegation from the Qatari Embassy in Beirut, alongside a military delegation from the Lebanese Army, was at the Beirut Airport to welcome the plane on Thursday afternoon.
The donation comes in line with Qatar’s pledge of support for Lebanon and the Lebanese people, and its plan to provide the Lebanese military with periodic food donations.
Qatar had announced on Tuesday that it would assist the Army with 70 tonnes of food per month for a year, during the visit of Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani to Beirut.
During his time in Beirut, the official affirmed his country’s support to Lebanon, its people, and its army.
He also repeated the call for Lebanese leaders to facilitate the formation of a government so that stability would be achieved in Lebanon.
