The Lebanese Army rescued a kidnapped person during a raid in eastern Lebanon on Wednesday.
The Directorate of Intelligence rescued “F.A.H.” during an operation conducted in the village of Haour Taala in the Beqaa Governorate, according to a statement by the Army‘s Orientation Directorate.
The victim was found in the house of an individual identified as “M.M.” in the eastern village of Taalabaya.
The kidnapper was identified by the initials “H.S.,” and an investigation has been launched into the incident under the supervision of the competent judicial authority.
Later on Wednesday, the Orientation Directorate announced that the Lebanese Army had thwarted several attempts to smuggle fuel out of Lebanon.
A total of 13 people linked to these attempts have been arrested. They were identified as seven Lebanese, four Syrians, and two Palestinians.
Five cars, three vans, two pickup trucks, and a fuel truck were seized during the operations, which took place at separate times on 5 and 6 July.
The seized vehicles had been loaded with a total of 3,700 liters of diesel fuel and 3,300 liters of gasoline, in addition to 950 kg of natural gas and various quantities of tobacco and shisha, all prepared for smuggling into Syria.
The detainees, alongside the seized materials and vehicles, have been referred to the competent authority, and an investigation into the case is underway.
