Mila Ahmad Marzouk was only 4 months old when she was diagnosed with a life-limiting disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 (SMA1). It is the most severe form of the disease and many infants don’t get to live past the age of 2.
Ever since getting the terrible diagnosis, her family has been desperately running campaigns to raise funds for Baby Mila‘s treatment in a short amount of time.
Her treatment, a one-time Zolgensma injection, which she must take before turning 2, costs over a whopping $2,125,000!
Around the time Mila turned 1, her family was only able to raise up to 54% of the amount needed. With time running out, an undisclosed donor pledged to provide the remaining amount!
On Tuesday, Mila’s mother, Farah, uploaded a video to share the good news. She thanked all donors and gave special thanks to Lebanese Nour Alsouki who stood by the family from the beginning. She also showed gratitude to activist Amani Danhach “Ammounz” for being the reason behind why Mila will be getting her treatment.
Mila’s family will now relocate to Dubai where she will get treated and will share the recovery journey with everyone who helped saved Mila’s life!
