An Israeli shell fired into Lebanon on Monday night fell in an area used to store pipes in a southern Lebanese town.
The shell, which landed in the village of Markaba, damaged several GRP pipes that belong to the South Irrigation Project, according to the National News Agency.
The Israeli artillery fire came in response to an attempt to launch several rockets from Lebanese territory to Occupied Palestine, in the second such incident to be recorded in a few days.
Although the rockets fell inside southern Lebanese territory, they triggered sirens in some Israeli settlements near the border with Lebanon and prompted a response from the Israeli military.
The incident came 4 days after 4 rockets were fired from the Qlayleh area of South Lebanon, heightening tensions at the southern Lebanese border amid violent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups in Palestinian territories.
On Tuesday, an un-launched, locally-manufactured 122-mm Grad rocket was found in the same site from which the rockets were fired the night before, in Aarqoub, according to Al-Jadeed.
Security forces proceeded to work on neutralizing the rocket’s threat by either disarming or detonating it.
