As protests against the worsening economic conditions continue across Lebanon, many roads have been blocked with burning tires and other objects on Monday.
Early on Monday, a group of protesters blocked the Abbassieh Intersection in the city of Tyre, South Lebanon – where a man attempted to set himself on fire – while others prepared to block the road leading from Khalde Bridge to the Beirut Airport tunnels.
In Sidon, the Banks Street was blocked and the Elia junction was partially closed.
Later on, protesters closed both sides of the Daoura Highway in the Matn District of the Mount Lebanon Governorate.
Protesters also blocked the roads leading to the Banque du Liban and the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium in Beirut.
Additionally, traffic was blocked in Korniche El-Mazraa and the Cola roundabout, and protesters partially closed the Jal El-Dib Highway, setting up tents in the area. Tents were also set up by protesters in the city of Byblos.
Meanwhile, in North Lebanon, protesters blocked the Miniyeh Highway at several spots and blocked the Rechdebine-Kousba road and the Halba road. Several roads were also blocked in the city of Tripoli.
In the Beqaa Governorate, protesters blocked the Rachiya-Masnaa road.
Protests in Lebanon intensified in recent days after the Lebanese pound hit unprecedented lows against the U.S. dollar as living conditions continue to worsen amid crippling economic and political crises.
