Protesters in Tripoli are back in the streets protesting the deteriorating situation of the country, despite some getting charged with terrorism a week ago.

In fact, they are also protesting for the release of those who have been detained. They are calling for the Governor of North Lebanon, Ramzi Nahra, to be held accountable for the death of Omar Tayba.

According to the protesters, Nahra, who is believed to be affiliated with the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), is responsible for allowing the authorities to use live ammunition against protesters, which killed Tayba.

On Tuesday morning, Tripoli‘s protesters closed the highway at the Palma bridge in both directions with burning tires. They also closed roads at Abdel Hamid Karami Square (Al-Nour Square).

The dollar has reached 10,000 LBP on the black market today. Not only have the financial struggles in Lebanon reached a harrowing level, but the pandemic is also nowhere near being over.

Furthermore, prices of goods, electricity, gas, and more have all skyrocketed while people’s wages have become a fraction of what they were once worth.
