Lebanon recorded 1,739 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Monday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.
In total, 340,868 infections have been confirmed in Lebanon since the pandemic started last year. Of those, 91,738 are active, considering that 4,037 patients have passed away due to the disease and 245,093 others have undergone full recovery.
44 virus-related deaths and 5,800 recoveries were confirmed in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry’s report.
The confirmed infections include 2,473 medical workers, 3 of which were recorded between Sunday and Monday.
The positive cases registered in the same period emerged from 7,133 PCR tests administered in the past 24 hours, including 5,255 local tests and 1,878 others conducted at Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport.
In total, 2,813,484 tests have been administered in Lebanon since the virus was first detected in it back in February 2020.
As of the time of writing, 2,266 patients are in hospital beds across the country, 941 are in critical condition in intensive care units, and 315 are on mechanical ventilation.
Lebanon received its first shipment of vaccines on Saturday and began vaccinating healthcare workers and elderly citizens on Sunday. Citizens can register to receive the vaccine using the dedicated registration platform, here.
On Sunday, the Health Ministry recorded 2,130 COVID-19 cases & 32 fatalities.
