The Administration of Tripoli’s Port in North Lebanon announced on Friday in a statement that the French and World’s largest shipping company, CMA CGM, has officially considered the port of Tripoli as a main station in the eastern Mediterranean within the two marine routes of its vessels.
The two maritime routes will include the port of Tripoli for local cargo and transshipment services and will increase the monthly rate of container ships visiting the port of Tripoli from 12 vessels to 22 vessels, according to the National News Agency.
The first maritime line, which is called Med Express, will pass through the ports of Hamad (Qatar), Jabal Ali (Emirates), Karachi (Pakistan), Nhava Shava (India), Kessandra (India), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Tripoli (Lebanon), Paraius (Greece), Malta, and Genoa (Italy).
While the second marine line, which is called Megam, will pass through the ports of Jabal Ali (Emirates), Hamad (Qatar), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Jubail (Saudi Arabia), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Port Said (Egypt), Tripoli (Lebanon), and Mersin (Turkey).
Tripoli port’s administration affirmed that the adoption of the two lines “is a clear indication of the great confidence that the port’s advanced services has given to international companies”.
CMA CGM, a leading international French shipping group, uses 200 shipping routes between 420 ports in 150 different countries. Now, Tripoli’s port is officially included.
The administration added that the port of Tripoli is considered an attractive maritime and logistical commercial attraction for CMA CGM.
