The Lebanese pilot who flew the first direct Eurowings flight from Germany to Lebanon has been honored in Germany.
The Ambassador of Lebanon to Germany, Mustapha Adib, recognized Captain Malak Salman’s accomplishment at the Lebanese Embassy in Berlin, in the presence of his deputy, Hamza Jammoul, and Lebanese-German pilot Ali Salman.
In December, Malak Salman, who also holds German citizenship, flew the first Eurowings plane to land in Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport since the low-cost German airline announced it would start operating flights to Beirut.

The decision of Eurowings came with the approach of the holiday season, during which many Lebanese expatriates visit their home country to spend time with their families.
Eurowings, which is a fully-owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, started flights from Berlin to Beirut and from Düsseldorf to Beirut on Dec. 19th and Dec. 22nd, respectively.
The company had announced that it would also operate flights from Stuttgart to the Lebanese capital starting February 2nd, 2021.
Salman, who hails from South Lebanon, landed the plane in Beirut on December 21st.
Her honoring “was held at the embassy headquarters in Berlin, to highlight the achievements of the Lebanese community in Germany,” Ambassador Adib said in a tweet marking the occasion.
