The Bread Crisis In Lebanon Continues, Here’s Why

The Syndicate of Bread Manufacturers in Lebanon, Antoine Seif, explained that the cause of the crisis was the cessation of mills during Eid Al-Adha without securing sufficient wheat stocks for bakeries.

Seif said in an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio: “The stock of wheat is insufficient, and some mills have enough stock for a week, while others are sufficient for days. The bakeries do not operate at full production due to the lack of sufficient flour to produce bread.”

He assured that the Economy & Trade Minister promised the syndicate that more quantities will be shipped.

Noting that the shipment will still need to “be subjected to laboratory analyzes.”
